What are credits, and how many do I need?
A credit is Diffbot’s unit of processing value. Most actions cost a fixed number — extracting a page is 1 credit, exporting a Knowledge Graph entity is 25. Every plan includes a pool of renewable monthly credits; the calculator above maps your workload onto that pool. If you’re unsure, start on Free or Startup and scale up as your usage grows.
What happens when I exceed my plan’s monthly credits?
On a paid plan, usage beyond your monthly credits is billed pro rata at your plan’s per-credit rate — nothing more. For example, 1,500,000 credits on Plus is $899 + 500,000 × $0.0009. On the Free plan you’ll get a 429 Quota Exceeded response once you hit 10,000 credits or your rate limit; quotas reset at the start of each billing period.
Do I need a long-term contract? What’s your cancellation policy?
No. Diffbot is a flexible monthly subscription — cancel anytime and you won’t be billed for the following month.
Do I need a credit card to sign up for the free plan?
No. Signing up for the Free plan doesn’t require a credit card; you only add payment details when you upgrade.
Do you offer student or academic discounts?
Yes. Diffbot for Students gives students and academic researchers Startup-tier access free of charge.
